To Remi From Sydney

Dear Remi,
Mommy wants you to know that you are the most precious 2 year old girl in the whole world even though, this morning, you painted your new pink and white skirt with Mommy's brown liquid eyeliner.
Love,
Sydney

ABC'S AND 123'S

231.jpg picture by swirlrn

Ever since Remi was 30 seconds old Money Bags has been hounding me to put her in preschool. He didn't say so in his out loud voice but, he wanted me to go to preschool while I was pregnant so Remi could get a head start on learning algebraic equations while she was still in the womb. He was predicting she would be in Harvard Medical School by age five.

When she was 18 months old I had heard enough begging from Money Bags and so I decided to to enlist her in a premed program at the local daycare. Remi and I had never really been apart so needless to say I was an emotional wreck and so was she. The school had video cameras so that I could log in from home and watch her learn Chemistry and Geometry live and in person.

The first day I dropped her off she cried and so did I. It was painful because I couldn't explain to her what was happening and that I would be back soon. When I left I ran 2 red lights in my mad rush to get home and log in. I made it here and was looking at her in the classroom within 2 minutes. She looked lost. She kept looking around for me. It was unbearable so I logged out and kept myself busy until the time came to pick her up.

It was like we had been apart for weeks but it had only been 1 hour. When she saw me she cried. I will never forget that moment.

After three months of torture, Remi picked up a nasty virus at Graduate School and had to be hospitalized for dehydration. That was the last straw. So, essentially I forced her quit school.

Lately, the subject of preschool has resurfaced. Moneybags has started having mini conversations with Remi about it while I am within hearing distance. He doesn't dare discuss the topic with me. He knows I have established certain criteria Remi will have to meet before she can re enroll. First of all, she has to be able to say "Mommy, the teacher hit me" in three different languages (Baby Pig Latin doesn't count as one). Secondly, she must have 2 black belts in karate. I'll give her a year and she should be ready.

The Storm Chaser

Yesterday, as I was trying to sleep, the television kept sounding the annoying alarm that warns the public when there is a natural disaster in the area. I ignored the sound until the horn signal became unbearable to stand any longer.

I stumbled out of bed to sit by the television set and wait for the next warning. It came, thirty seconds later. The warning, it seems, was in regards to a severe thunderstorm heading our way. I looked out at the sky and saw white clouds. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Cassidy and I had plans. We were going out to eat and then see the movie everyone is talking about. The strangers.

Natural disasters happen and plans get changed.

At approximately 737 pm I heard the first thunderbolt. I thought nothing of it. Little did I know that 4 minutes later we would be huddled together in the basement begging for our lives and making deals with the Lord.

Out of nowhere this rapture of clouds, hail, wind, and flying debris surrounded the house.
I panicked when the patio furniture was lifted and rearranged into a pile of clutter. I gathered all of the children and headed for the basement. Money Bags was very busy troubleshooting the problems he's been having with his electric razor so, I left him in the bathroom to fend for himself.

As we were heading downstairs Cassidy asked the following questions: "Does this mean we can't go see the movie." and "Do you have and umbrella in your car?"

My answers? "Yes, Cassidy we can go see the movie as long as one of us doesn't end up with a timber impaled through a vital organ." and "Yes, Cassidy I have an umbrella but, it won't protect your hair from hurricane force winds."

We waited out the storm and made it to the movie. I watched it with my eyes closed mostly due to sheer fright. Cassidy laughed out loud inappropriately every 5 minutes when she would glance over at me chewing my nails.

Dear Amanda

Thank you for my onesie.

Mommy says it makes me look so adorable even though the word "Dora" somehow made its way onto it.

You've Got to Stand for Something

This morning in the car an Aaron Tippin song came on the radio. Cassidy Texas was sleeping. I temporarily brought her to a semiconscious state so she could listen to her pretend cousin sing his twangy country music song.

Me: "Texas wake up! My cousin is singing on the radio!"

Texas: "Huh?"

Me: "He's your cousin too."

Texas: "He's your cousin and your husband."

Zoo

Today, Moneybags and I took the babies to the Zoo. Remi has assumed this fascination with elephants which she affectionately calls "effants". I believe she loves them only because she can now say the word "elephant" in Baby Pig Latin. Here are some pics from the trip.
