More Milestones

Today, Sydney rolled over from her back to her abdomen for the first time. Remi also has reached a milestone. She can now relay to the world her needs in the form of verbal communication. For instance, at the Starbucks drive up window yesterday she yelled: "STARBUTTS FRAT PREASE!"

Rest in Peace Lucy

This week, a very dear friend of mine lost her life tragically. I worked with Lucy in the ER for 4 years. She was a loving person who could find the bright side in just about any bad situation. She was a very forgiving and understanding person. She was a compassionate, and knowledgeable nurse who paid attention to the smallest detail when it came to caring for her patients. More than anything though, she loved her children. Her greatest concern was their well being. Lucy leaves behind a daughter Lauren, who is 7 years old, a son Cason, who is 6 months old, and she took an unborn child with her to Heaven when she left this world.

My Dear Lucy Johnson, may you rest in peace knowing that your ER family won't rest until the person that brought this horrible harm to you and your baby is brought to justice.

Knowledge is Power

Today I took Tiny (Sydney) to her Pediatrician (Nurse Practitioner) for her three month "well baby" check up. I chose the very earliest appointment available which meant Tiny would most likely be evaluated by a Nurse Practitioner and, for the record, is more than ok by me.

Cari, the NP, came in to do the physical. I make it a habit to never let health care personnel know that Money Bags and I work in the medical field. Mainly, it is because I realize how important teaching is. And goodness knows, I have a lot to learn. My job, as an Emergency Room Nurse, allows me to mostly deal with adults. Only on rare occasions is there a pediatric emergency. I feel like, if the cat was out of the bag, "they" might make assumptions about our knowledge in medicine. For me, medical technology is ever-changing and for that reason, I asked every possible question in the book of pediatrics. Here is what I learned from today's visit.

I learned that Tiny is bigger proportionally in regards to most babies that are her same age. I got the ok to mix rice cereal in her baby formula to try to alleviate spit up. I know that in one month Syd Vicious (Sydney) will need an x ray of her hips because like her, many babies who lie breech in the uterus have problems with dislocation when they are older. You see, even as a seasoned nurse, I never knew these things before.

Sydney turned three months old one week ago. This is going to sound impossible but, this morning, she sat up by herself for one millionth of a second.

Loving My Siggs

SIG-10-Maha1.jpg picture by swirlrn

Ever since I can remember I have loved Julia Roberts. One afternoon, not too long ago, I was partaking in my favorite form of exercise, channel surfing. I stopped changing channels when I saw that Julia was on the Oprah Show. She was telling America how each of us should go out and buy a Sigg water bottle to help save the environment so, I bought two. I love them and I have used them everyday since they arrived at my door. One of the most amazing things about these bottles is that the tops are interchangeable. I can put a toddler top on either bottle so that the children can use them too.

The Babies

Here are some rare shots of Remi and Sydney getting along. 5 minutes after these pictures were taken Remi had a toddler nervous breakdown because she got a speck of dirt on her right foot and Sydney shed some sympathy tears for her.
